Whe took her ashes there and spread them off the cliffs on her birthday this year. What a beautiful place. Leah and Aunt Linda met us and cousin Don & his wife came up from Paso Robles as well. We had a great time hiking and recalling old times. Don, a winemaker for a well known winery, brought up some of his latest creations. We also met up with Karen and Jeff - friends of Renee and toured the Hearst Castle and San Francisco. This was a nice getaway and look forward to a return trip someday.Haralson Family Newshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18209093891463778403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14406269.post-86211954438045764562007-12-31T14:38:00.000-06:002008-12-11T18:25:22.615-06:00Year in review<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_pMQR0mY6wU8/R3lUuIRlWnI/AAAAAAAAAAM/QsSaesSfcbU/s320/SD530343.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5150240800346823282" />
Well it sure has been a long time since I posted anything here. So much has happened in the last 14 months. We went to Red River last winter to ski - had a wonderful time - rented several snowmobiles and lucked into a huge snowfall that really made the trip.

Also, Last June, Renee & I went with her brother and sister in law to Florida. We stayed at our time share in Orlando, but also went to West Palm Beach to do some diving. Visibility wasn't the best, but any diving is good diving in my book.<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_pMQR0mY6wU8/R3lVw4RlWoI/AAAAAAAAAAU/9UsA8aUQFkY/s320/PICT0024.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5150241947103091330" /> We went spearfishing too - I shot a HUGE hogfish. Rick didn't shoot anything! Not that he didn't try - he just isn't the hunter I am.

Along with all the softball, football, basketball, cheeerleading and schoolwork, Matt & Rachel have been going 100 miles per hour. They always have something going on. Trish and Dusty got married last Summer - Clay is expecting a little sister in March. Ryan and Amanda are getting married in June. He asked her Christmas. Charlie & Patty are in college. Chuck is planning to go to Texas Tech next Fall and Patty has been at Northeastern Oklahoma State for tha past year or so. John went in to the Army last Spring, but was released recently because of a back injury. He works for Beaver County now. Matt & Rach got certified to dive this past Fall, so we only have a few left and the whole family will be divers.

Renee & I just got back from a cruise to Central America. We dove Roatan, Belize & Cozumel. What a great trip. We are going back to Belize in June with Rick & Stella.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_pMQR0mY6wU8/R3lYF4RlWpI/AAAAAAAAAAc/I20Yy41aJe4/s320/PICT0171.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5150244506903599762" /> I will come back with more whan I have time. Well - we have a MySpace now too. My lovely wife will keep that one up - I have my hands full here.
All is well on the home front. Kids are doing good in school. We are going to Lampasas for Thanksgiving to see Granpa. We went to Orlando for summer vacation (Universal Studios). Was a lot of fun. Renee & I bought a timeshare. Now all we have to do is find the time to use it. Renee's boys have been doing alot of racing this summer - we just got back from Enid Sunday (Last Race). They didn't do too good, but we all had fun. Matthew and Patrick are playing football but neither team has seen a win yet (gulp). Patrick is moving off to Northeastern State for the Spring Semester. Matthew has been plagued with injuries so out virtually all of the season (broken hand, twisted ankle & dislocated shoulder. Mom passed away unexpectedly last Friday. She had been in the hospital treating a skin condition and developed an infection. Complications arose in the treatment and she didn't survive. We were in Orlando on vacation when Leah called and told me to come as soon as possible. We are still in shock.

Mom was the one who did most of the website work for me and added photos when I had new ones. I hope I can keep this current without her. She was so talented with these websites! She was really talented in all she did... Mom would shear a sheep or goat and make a sweater - start to finish. I will always be so proud of all her amazing accomplishments. Bye Mom - I'll miss you alot! Renee' and I are getting married in Hawaii on May 24th... We will be living at her house and selling my place to her daughter (Trish) and her new husband to be (Ryan). She has two other kids - Ryan and Charlie (yes two Ryans now - we call Trish's fiance' "Kels"). Actually they aren't kids - Trish is 24, Ryan is 22 and Charlie is Patrick's age.

Charlie and Patrick graduate this year. Patty got a full ride at Panhandle State Univerity and will be playing football for them next year. He was chosen as "All-Star Defensive Lineman" for Oklahoma last year and did really well in track - their 3200 relay team made it to state and finished 7th out of 16 teams. Patrick has been working at Hastings but just gave his notice because of all of the activities this Summer.

John is living with his Grandmother in Midland now. He was working at a steakhouse, but recently got a new job as a grounds-keeper. He will have better hours and make more money. He is going to continue school at Midland Community College this Fall.

Matthew will be playing football again for Turpin as a Junior next year. We will now have ball games every Friday and Saturday! He also was on the track team and ran several events, including the 800 with Patty. He is doing well and decided not to take the job as a grounds-keeper for the country club again since he has such a full schedule this summer.

Rachel goes into High School this Fall. She will be playing Basketball next year and is excited. She did really well this past season and started every game. She got a horse ("Molly") for her birthday in April. Molly was born the day before her birthday.

Trish is getting married July 1st and works for her Mom at American Title. She and Kels are doing wonders with the old house. I'll post "after" pictures when they get done.

Ryan co-owns a body shop that does car restorations - "Dream Ride Customz". He and his partner, Dave, take old cars and re-do them and sell them for jillions of dollars. The shop is out on the farm and they are staying really busy.

Charlie is working for me, learning the land business, and is going to Seward County Community College next fall. He was quarterback last year for Turpin and was catcher for baseball team.

Renee' & I are buying a new building and plan to move our businesses there. She has American Title and Abstract Specialists, Inc. w/ offices here and Ulysses. It will be late Summer or early Fall before we get in the new place if all goes well...

Leah and I went on a cruise to Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel this past February. It was a lot of fun and the weather was great. I wish I had planned some scuba diving but at least got some snorkeling in.

I suppose that is it in a nutshell - I know I left several things out, but will add them later - just wanted to get caught up... I'll also post pictures of everyone when we get back from Kauai.Haralson Family Newshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18209093891463778403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14406269.post-1133973446643219232005-12-07T10:27:00.000-06:002005-12-07T10:37:26.663-06:00Pheasant HuntThe hunt was great this year. Dad and Uncle John came up and my Houston folks came as well. My hat is off to Julie for braving the less than comfortable conditions in my far from finished house. We easily shot our limit the 1st 2 days and shot 6 on Saturday. It would not have been a problem getting a limit that day either if we weren't so cold and tired.

My good friend Harold Kuhn died Saturday from West Nile. His funeral is tomorrow and Selina asked John to sing in it. She said Harlod always liked his singing. We will miss him.

Patrick and rachel are both playing Baskeball this year which fills up 3 or 4 nights a week. I'm real proud of both of them. Everyones grades are good right now - hope they stay up...

Well enough for now - Merry Christmas everyone (no - I didn't say Happy Holidays).Haralson Family Newshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18209093891463778403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14406269.post-1131038978758823412005-11-03T11:13:00.000-06:002005-11-03T11:29:38.790-06:00New Weather StationI got it hooked up and it works great! Take a look by going to my links page at www.haralson.net... The instruments are wireless and in the field south of the house so the trees don't interfere. The base unit is in the kitchen and connected to my computer. Updates the website every 20 minutes. I know - I need to get a life.

Football has been a lot of fun this year. Matthew and Patrick lined up together on the kick-off last game. Matt made 2 good tackles pretty deep and Patty made 2 or 3 himself. Games and results are on the Football link along with some newspaper articles. I'll get the other articles scanned and uploaded soon. We play our last regular game on Friday against Beaver - then on to the play-offs.

Rachel & McKenna spent the night on Halloween. They wanted to "sleep in a haunted house and watch scarry movies". My ghost didn't show up (as far as I know), butthey fell asleep during the movie so it must not have been too scarry.

The house is coming along nicely. I am in now and am getting the kitchen re-done. Should be finished in about a week. Got an estimate on my porch windows/screens yesterday. They should be in before the weather gets too bad (I hope).

John is doing good in school and working 2 jobs (Applebys and JC Pennys). He's talking about taking next semester off to save money so call him and talk him out of it if you get a chance. It is sure hard to go back when you lay out like that!

Thats all for now - stay tuned...Haralson Family Newshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18209093891463778403noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14406269.post-1128979050986753192005-10-10T16:09:00.000-05:002005-10-10T16:25:40.123-05:00Homecoming KingOK - this isn't just "Patrick News", you other kids start doing something... Patty was paired with Stephanie Hamrick on Friday for Homecoming and she won homecoming queen... Doesn't that make him the homecoming king? After the ceremony, he dominated the defense with at least 6 solo tackles and many more assists. I couldn't count them all but his name dominated the PA system. The first play on defense he sacked their QB with an huge blow, knocking the guy 5 yards through the air. He made several great blocks on offense too. It was an exciting game that Turpin finally won 16 to 12.Haralson Family Newshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18209093891463778403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14406269.post-1128440077708583212005-10-04T10:27:00.000-05:002005-10-04T10:39:50.043-05:00Patty's ACT Scores

He is going to kill me for doing this, but I'm pretty proud of Patrick's ACT results. English was 30 (top 5%); Math - 28 (top 8%); Reading - 25 (top 25%) and Science - 28 (top 5%).

He isn't sure where he wants to go to college yet - looking at West Point and Oklahoma State right now.Haralson Family Newshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18209093891463778403noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14406269.post-1127416968064647002005-09-22T14:13:00.000-05:002005-09-22T14:25:44.546-05:00Doves are still flyingI was headed out to work this morning but couldn't resist going back in for my shotgun. There were hundreds of dove flying over the new pond. Shot my limit in less than 10 minutes; cleaned the birds and was off to work 30 minutes late... Oh well. Gotta love it. It won't last too long - they will clear out pretty fast when the first cold front moves through so am shooting while I can.

I rented a floor sander, but after seeing how much work was involved made a bee line to the carpet store. I like the old hardwood floors, but the carpet will make the old house much warmer and easier to take care of. At least that is what I am telling myself. The electricians will be finished today. Concrete guys will be there in the morning to pour the porches and the carpet goes in next Wednesday. I see light at the end of the tunnel!

Back to work... I suppose I would have to agree. The kids are doing great.

John is taking 20 hours this semester at Seward County Community College. He also has a job at Penny's and Appleby's. Busy guy! He is living with Cassie, a friend of his and seems to really be enjoying himself.

Patty (what Patrick goes by these days) is also doing real well. He is taking 2 college courses as part of his final year in High School and has straight A's. He is also doing very well in football. He plays Guard on Offense and Lineman on Defense. They have won their 1st 2 games so far this season. We just got Patty a 2002 Grand Am. It gets good mileage and he is taking good care of it.

Matthew is also doing very well in school with straight A's. He and I just got back from San Diego to watch the Cowboys stomp the Chargers - was a lot of fun! We wnet to Mexico after the game and he wouldn't eat at the restaurant so I had to take him to Burger King. He is on the Junior Varsity Team as Tight End. Matthew will have his license in March but we already got him a little Buick sportscar. He seems to like it pretty much.

Rachel is growing prettier every day! She decided not to cheerlead this year but will probably go out next year when she gets in High School. She is going to fill in for John as my new "Janitor" at the office. All I have to do is get here up here to start (been 2 weeks). She has a lot of friends and seems really happy.

As you may or may not know, I bought an old house on 20 acres just south of Liberal (in Oklahoma) and have been consumed with re-modeling it. The pictures on the website are what it looked like before I started. It looks like a war zone now. The electricians are almost finished; The new central air and heat are in; The front porch has been torn out and a concrete one is going in sometime this week; I have 2 person hot tub to go on the porch when it is done and splurged on a 50" TV. I don't think I have ever owned one 1/2 that size. Will be nice for football season though! The electricians put my surround sound speakers in the ceiling - should sound real good.

A few weeks before dove season opened, I dug a pond near the house and filled it to hunt over. I was supposed to go fishing off of Bilouxi again this year, but Katrina nixed that plan! I guess I should be thankful for my good fortune instead of whining about haveing to cancel a fishing trip.

That is about all I have for now...
